Backpack Full of Cash the Future of K-12 Education in America:
Accredited for Pennsylvania & New Jersey CLE: 3 Substantive / 1 Ethics Credits
Why You Should Attend
Explore the thorny issues surrounding the recent national and state push for privatization of our public schools (via charter schools and vouchers) and initiatives to change the way our public, private and parochial schools are funded.
Our class will include a private screening of the award-winning, eye-opening documentary Backpack Full of Cash, narrated by Matt Damon.
Speakers will include attorney Deborah Klehr, Executive Director of the Education Law Center in Philadelphia, and PA Senator Daylin Leach, member of the Pennsylvania Senate’s Education Committee.
Hear from Pennsylvania State Senator Daylin Leach about state initiatives impacting public education, including a push for privatization (vouchers and charter schools) and how proposed state legislation may affect the future funding of education. Learn from attorney Deborah Klehr, Executive Director of the Education Law Center, about how the most vulnerable children in our communities (particularly students in foster care, those experiencing homelessness, students with disabilities, English Learners (“ELs”), and youth in and exiting the juvenile justice system) are often denied access to fair public education and what the Education Law Center is doing to protect them.
Experience top-tier education in a relaxed “coffee-house” atmosphere and enjoy delicious cappuccino, a gourmet brunch with home-baked goods, and live music (all-inclusive with your lecture fee). Discover that earning your CLE credits can be a great experience!
